Welcome to Summer Fun in 2023 at Bella Via! This 4 week “Mini Session” will be the perfect addition to your summer! This is a wonderful opportunity for your dancer to try something new, stay connected with friends, improve their skills, and stay healthy and active during the long summer days. So get ready for some fun and exciting dancing!!!

The 2026/2027 Recital Season begins on Monday, September 14th. Below you will find the class attire for each level and style of dance. Your family’s well being is a the forefront of every decision we make. Bella Via follows the More Than Just Great Dancing!® Safer Studio Guidelines which prioritize a hierarchy of safety and wellness measures. We are also the only YPAD (Youth Protection Associates in Dance) certified studio in the North Shore! We believe dance lesson are life lessons, and cannot wait to have you join our dance community for our 16th Season. Our classes fill up FAST, so do not hesitate to reserve your spot!

Levels (D, C, B, A or I/II/III/IV) roughly reflect years of dance experience required to be enrolled in a class, while the numbers following them are roughly determined by the age group within the given experience bracket. Bella Via faculty ultimately decides where a student should be placed according to experience, age, talent, and learning ability.

Baby Bellas (2 and 3 year olds)

Bella Via’s Baby Bellas classes are designed to enhance gross motor coordination, listening skills, musicality and nurture imagination. Each class includes developmentally appropriate instruction through the use of music and dance. Props are used as tools to enlighten the child’s imagination and practice different movements. Our goal is to create a fun and loving environment where even the youngest of students is excited and encouraged to learn. Dancers have onstage performance opportunities in our new Winter Showcase in December, and the annual Recital in June (… and they usually steal the show!).

Class Attire: light pink leotard, white tights, white ballet shoes

Twinkle Tots (4 and 5 year olds)

This class is designed to teach children ages 4-6 an artistic and physical discipline through imagination and creativity. Class length increases from the Baby Bellas Program to 1 hour, and Tap is introduced to the class curriculum. Our Twinkle Tots will begin to learn the very basics of dance and build a foundation that will cary them in the future. Teachers will keep up an energetic pace that will have the students excited and encouraged to learn… parents may even get tired of hearing their Twinkle Tot always hopefully asking, “Do I get to go to dance class today?” (Our 4-5yr. old dancers will perform a ballet dance in the recital; 5-6yr. old dancers perform both ballet and tap in the recital.)

Class Attire: light pink leotard, white tights, white ballet shoes, black tap shoes

Ballet, Jazz, and Tap 6 & 7yrs

A fast paced, high energy combo class that builds on the basic foundations of poise, grace, rhythm, musicality, coordination, and terminology. (6yr. old dancers will only perform ballet and tap in the recital.)

Class Attire: light pink leotard, white tights, white ballet shoes, black tap shoes (jazz shoes are not required for this level)

Ballet

In this class, students learn the fundamentals of dance. Ballet is the basis for all dance forms, and is therefore required in order to participate in Jazz, Tap, and Contemporary Modern. Students will learn poise and grace. This class sets the foundation for strong and competent athletes to excel in every genre of dance.

Class Attire 8 & 9yrs: black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes… black dance shorts or ballet skirts are allowed
Class Attire Levels D-A: black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes… black dance shorts or ballet skirts are allowed Class Attire Teen Ballet: Solid colored leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes… any color dance shorts or ballet skirts

Pre-Pointe/Pointe

Pre-Pointe: Dancers strengthen their calves and ankles with a strong focus on technique in preparation for Pointe. (students must have the faculty’s permission to enroll)

Pointe: with the faculty’s permission, dancers will begin or continue their pointe training in this classical dance genre

Class Attire Levels D-A: black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes… black dance shorts or ballet skirts are allowed

Jazz

This is a fun and energetic movement form where students learn to dance and perform at a fast pace that is fun and exciting for everyone. Flexibility, jumps and isolations are taught to create a stylized form of dance that draws from a number of different inspirations. (students must be enrolled in Ballet)

Tap

An understanding of rhythm and timing is essential for dancers, and this class focuses on just that. Young students will learn traditional tap steps, while learning to stay with the beat of the music. As dancers progress, they are challenged to create new rhythms with a greater understanding of musicality. (students must be enrolled in Ballet)

Acro for Dancers

This class will build dancer’s acrobatic technique and skills while improving their strength, flexibility, and balance.

Class Attire: solid colored leotard, tan tights, dance shorts or pants (no shoes)

Contemporary Modern

Contemporary is a freeing expression of dance, and one of the most popular styles right now! Students will grasp a better understanding of parallel and turned out, with a strong focus on the spine and its relationship to every movement we do. This is an artistically creative class that is always a favorite among dancers! ages 8+ (students must be enrolled in Ballet)

Class Attire: solid colored leotard, tan convertible tights, dance shorts or pants… foot undies are optional

Hip Hop

A vibrant form of dance that combines a variety of freestyle movements to create a cultural piece of art. Hip Hop has evolved into one of the most popular and influential styles of dance. Our classes are fun and energetic, and are great taken a la cart or as an addition to a child’s core dance course.

Class Attire: clothes the dancers can move and feel comfortable in (no jeans or skirts); tennis shoes that have not been worn outside (popular brand for Hip Hop shoes are DCs)

Leaps & Turns

This class will focus on perfecting the technical execution of turns, leaps, and jumps with a strong focus on flexibility and strength. Dancers must be enrolled in Ballet and Jazz, or on a Dance Team. **This class does not perform in the Spring Recital**

Musical Theater

Musical Theatre is designed to develop comprehensive musical theatre skills including theatre dance, partnering, acting, and character development. This class will be an excellent opportunity for students to prepare for school or community theatre auditions as well as developing confidence and stage presence in young dancers.

Class Attire: solid colored leotard, tan tights, dance shorts or pants, and tan jazz shoes

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. This class challenges dancers to use movement to interpret music and express emotion.

Technique and Conditioning for Dancers

This class is designed to enhance a dancer’s strength, flexibility and performance of skills. For the first 30 minutes, dancers’ bodies are conditioned and stretched through a variety of fitness forms (yoga, pilates, ballet, etc.) The second half of the class is dedicated to the technical training and perfection of turns, leaps, battlements, jumps, etc. This is a wonderful class for Dance Team members to work on their technique in front of a mirror.

Via Performance Troupe

This is an exciting and unique opportunity for dancers who are enrolled in Ballet, Jazz and Tap. In Troupe, dancers will learn a number of challenging dances from different genres to be performed throughout the community. This is a team environment where dancers build confidence, technique, and the ability to learn choreography quickly and efficiently. Rehearsals are complimentary. The Bella Company

This is for the serious dancer who is driven to perform and compete. Students are admitted into the Company only through a selective audition held once very year. (For more information, please visit the “Company” tab located in the “About” section of the website.)
